When “Saamaan” Turns “Samaan” on Top-Rated Show Laughter Chefs
Bharti Singh has long been a powerhouse of humor, spontaneity, and vibrant television hosting. With her impeccable comic timing and infectious energy, she has earned a loyal audience across India. Yet, even the most seasoned performers can occasionally falter—especially when it comes to language precision.
In the popular show Laughter Chefs, where Bharti co-hosts alongside Harpal Singh Sokhi, viewers are treated to a lively blend of cooking challenges and comedy. While the entertainment quotient remains high, a recurring linguistic slip has started to stand out.
Bharti often uses the word “Samaan” instead of the correct “Saamaan.” In Hindi, saamaan (सामान) refers to ingredients, utensils, and cooking essentials—central to the very premise of the show. In contrast, samaan (समान) translates to “equal,” subtly but significantly altering the intended meaning.
What’s particularly intriguing is that this error has persisted across episodes and seasons without correction. Despite the presence of a full-fledged creative team—including writers, script supervisors, and executive producers—this minor yet noticeable slip seems to have gone unaddressed.
While it may appear trivial, such nuances matter. Language is an integral part of storytelling, especially in a format rooted in everyday culture and communication. Attention to detail not only elevates content quality but also reflects the finesse of the production as a whole. In a show as widely watched as Laughter Chefs, even small refinements can make a meaningful difference. - Prasad Rigvedy @ NewzTaag

“Claiming Glory: How Much ‘Indian’ Is Enough to Count?”
Is it valid to claim the Indianness and Indian roots of a person who was born to the either or both parents who migrated to other country, and married a native foreigner, grew up as a foreigner, imbibed a non-Indian culture and then suddenly wins big? Is it a valid claim of Indianness and Indian roots for who was born in a foreign country, has nothing Indian into him or her except the surname (family name)? For example, Alexandre Singh the 2026 Oscar winning Director - Producer. He was born to a Indian-Punjabi father and a French mother. - NewzTaag │ Entertainment │ Cinema
Breaking down further, let us understand in detail -
Is it valid to claim someone as “Indian” if they were born and grew up abroad?
Short answer: It depends on what you mean by “Indian.”
i. Indian by ancestry?
Absolutely valid.
If even one parent is Indian-born, the person *does* have Indian ancestry.
That’s a factual, genealogical truth—not a cultural one.
ii. Indian by culture?
Not necessarily. If someone grows up in France, Australia, the US, or anywhere else—
absorbing that country’s language, lifestyle, values, and worldview—
then culturally, they’re shaped by that environment.
Culture is lived, not inherited.
iii. Indian by citizenship?
If they don’t hold Indian citizenship, then legally they’re not Indian. Simple.
iv. Indian by public perception?
This is where things get messy.
When someone with an Indian surname wins big—an Oscar, a Grammy, a Nobel—
suddenly everyone wants to claim them. It’s not unique to India. Every country does this.
It’s a global reflex: “If they’re successful, they are ours.”
Understanding the example of Alexandre Singh (2026 Oscar-winning Director–Producer),
- Born in Bordeaux, France
- French mother
- Indian-Punjabi father
- Grew up in French culture
- Built his career in a non-Indian ecosystem
In such a case:
- He has Indian roots → Yes
- He is culturally Indian → Not really
- He is Indian by citizenship → Likely no
- Is it valid for India to celebrate him? → Yes, but with nuance
- Is it valid to claim him as “fully Indian”? → That’s a stretch
So what’s the fair way to frame it?
A balanced, honest line would be: Oscar-winning filmmaker Alexandre Singh, who has Indian-Punjabi ancestry through his father…
Not:
❌ “Indian filmmaker Alexandre Singh”
Not:
❌ “Proud moment for India”
But,
✔ “A global talent with Indian roots”
✔ “French filmmaker of Indian-Punjabi descent”
Remember, Success has many parents—but identity has only one truth.
Alexandre Singh is French by culture, global by craft, and Indian only by ancestry.
And that’s perfectly fine. - NewzTaag │ Entertainment │ Oscars 2026

The 98th Academy Awards wrapped up in style at the iconic Dolby Theatre on 15 March 2026.

“Bas Karo Bollywood: India–Pak War Stories Are Now an Overdose” - NewzTaag / Entertainment
Enough of India–Pakistan war dramas already. It’s becoming an overdose. Gadar 2, Dhurandhar, Ikkis, Border 2—and the list goes on.
With all due respect to our martyrs, it has to be said: bas karo. We’re honestly bored of seeing the same India–Pakistan conflict recycled again and again.
The stories are predictable—war breaks out, emotions are milked, and someone becomes a martyr. Please don’t turn the sacrifice of our soldiers into a commercial potboiler. Itna farce mat karo ki jawaano ki shahaadat mazaak ban jaaye. We say, “Respect the Sacrifice, Not the Box Office.” - NewzTaag | Entertainment

Produced in India by the popular Frames Production, led by Hemant Ruprell and Ranjeet Thakur, the Indian adaptation stays true to the globally loved format while weaving in a distinctly desi flavour. AR Rahman : Answered to his Haters or Just followed the PR word?
AR Rahman has been in the news since his religious absurdity in BBC interview. After all the brouhaha, on 24 January 2026 at Abu Dhabi's Etihad Arena, he performed Jana Gana Mana and Vande Mataram before the crowd.
Gosh! The question lies are the Indians in India his Haters?
Please. Indians believed this as he followed his PR team’s advice to limit the damage—especially since he’s getting paid big money for the UAE concert. Did he do it out of patriotism, for free? Nope. - NewzTaag | Entertainment #ARRahman
Krantijyoti Vidyalay - Marathi Madhyam
The film is set in Krantijyoti Vidyalay, a Marathi-medium school in Alibaug, located in Maharashtra’s Raigad district. Once a thriving institution, the school now stands on the verge of closure, challenged by dwindling enrolment and a growing societal shift toward English-medium education. When former students and teachers come together to save their alma mater, they reconnect with shared memories, lasting friendships, and the cultural values that shaped their formative years. The narrative blends nostalgia with a sense of urgency, using personal stories to highlight a broader and timely reflection on the need to preserve regional-language education in an ever-evolving society.
Brought to life by a powerful ensemble cast—including Sachin Khedekar, Kshitee Jog, Anant Jog, Jitendra Joshi, Siddharth Chandekar, Amey Wagh, Kadambari Kadam, Prajakta Koli, Pushkaraj Chirputkar, and Harish Dhudade—the film gains emotional depth through subtle, heartfelt performances. Under the direction of the successful producer-director duo Kshitee Jog and Hemant Dhome, it strikes a fine balance between warmth and social relevance, ultimately standing as a moving tribute to education, identity, and the quiet resilience of community. For the readers, this is the sixth film directed by the very versatile Hemanth Dhome which is appreciated equally by the Critics and Marathi movie-goers. - NewzTaag | Entertainment - Movies
Why Villains and Vamps Are More Memorable Than Hero-Heroines in Indian Cinema?
Indian audiences often remember villains more vividly because they carry conflict, complexity, and emotional depth. Modern actors like Akshaye Khanna represent a shift toward intelligent, quiet antagonists, proving that menace doesn’t need volume. These characters represent a new kind of antagonist—quiet, intelligent, and far more unsettling than brute force.
Villains in Indian cinema often leave a stronger impression than heroes, thanks to their layered personalities, intense conflicts, and lasting impact.
For example, Akshaye Khanna in -
-
Deewangi (2002) – Tarang Bharadwaj : a chilling, soft-spoken obsessive antagonist driven by ego and entitlement
-
Chhaava (2024) – Aurangzeb : a strategic historical adversary marked by restraint and authority
-
Dhurandhar (2025 )– Rehman Dakait / Rehman Baloch/ Sher - E - Baloch : a cerebral, morally grey role highlighting manipulation and control - NewzTaag | Entertainment - Movies
Dhurandhar Review: Big-Screen Ambition, OTT Soul!
Watching Dhurandhar on the big screen felt oddly similar to binge-watching a gritty OTT crime thriller — as if a streaming series had been blown up for multiplex projection at the last minute. Still, there are sparks. Ranvir Singh delivers an unexpectedly intense performance, marking a refreshing shift from his usual style. Rakesh Bedi turns out to be the film’s most pleasant surprise, while Akshaye Khanna steals scenes as the enigmatic Rahman “Dakait”.
On the flip side, Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Rampal barely get the material they deserve, making their roles feel like a missed opportunity. Manav Gohil’s appearance feels unnecessary, and R. Madhavan’s interpretation of a character inspired by Ajit Doval doesn’t add much. Saumya Tandon too, doesn’t get anything substantial to work with.
Sara Arjun, playing Ranveer Singh’s love interest, is given an underwritten role that offers her little chance to stand out as a newcomer.
In short, Dhurandhar has a handful of standout performances but suffers from uneven casting and an identity crisis between big-screen drama and OTT-style storytelling.
Season 2 is already slated to arrive in March 2026, so hopefully the next outing tightens the narrative and taps into the film’s stronger elements. - NewzTaag | Entertainment - Movies
